Using a quad bike or walking we comprehensively sample each field, manually recording each sample point. Returning to our lab we take each core and mix with soil indicator in test tubes and then compare the results to the pH reading chart to obtain a quick and reliable test for your soil. We then create maps and recommendations based on the results, soil type & cropping before deciding which liming material is the most beneficial and cost effective for you and your land should it require it.
This 11Ha field showed a bulk nutrient sample pH of 6.1 recommending 5t/Ha lime (55 tons).
It was found on closer analysis, by recording site specific pH's, that the field had been split from NW too SE several years ago and 6Ha on the South side needed no lime at all and the remaining 5Ha required 6t/Ha (30 tons) of lime. This lead to a saving of 25 tons of lime and not restricting trace element availabilty by over liming certain areas.
